It's for an E39 525i that I want to buy as a graduation present for a close family member.

I checked it out today, and the car looks great, but the lower portion of the rear bumper is noticeable discolored in person. It looks fine online, but this makes me think that it was in an accident.

Kinja'd!!!

Dealer is asking $8k for it, which is what I would pay for a REALLY clean 525i if it were optioned perfectly. This is an auto (I have a month until the grad party, not too much time!) but it is a Sport package car, premium, and cold weather. He's gonna be commuting to school next year so maybe he would like an auto more. Ideally, if it is an accident car I'll try to get it for $5k or less, as I'd never pay more for an autotragic E39! I'd gladly pay $7k for it if it were a stick!

Thanks guys!

(Excuse the flash in daylight, I was in a hurry as I had an appointment to test drive an E92 M3 at the jeep dealership next door. They pulled the old bait and switch saying the online price, which was the nada value of the car, was a special deal for yesterday only. Yeah.)
